What is a SPL Contest?
SPL competitions, or Sound Pressure League competitions, are car audio contests that measure the loudness of a vehicle's audio system. The goal is to have the loudest audio system in a given class.
How SPL competitions work
- A clamp meter measures power output, and the woofer cone surface area is used to calculate the class
- The SPL format measures decibels inside and outside the vehicle while playing full-range music
